January 21st, 2012 Majalis recited by Maulana Sayyed Muhammad Rizvi on the night of the Wafat of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (SAW). During the majalis, Maulana discusses the status of Prophet Muhammad in Islam. He goes over the status of Rasulallah in the various schools of thought in Islam and the level of obedience they have to his teachings and actions. Maulana points out that in the Quran, Allah (SWT) has emphasized total obedience to the Prophet many times. Allah has said in the Quran that the Prophet is ‘a Mercy to the Worlds’ and not to any specific selection of race, geographic area or period of time. Maulana also goes into greater detail of the events which occucured on the last Thursday of the life of The Prophet during which Rasulallah tried to emphasize once again, in the form of a written will, who his true successor would be. The reaction of the companions was split into two groups. One group wanted to fulfill his wish to write a will and the other group decided that whatever The Prophet had to say was not an official message from Allah and provided various excuses to stop this will from being written. This is where the division among the schools in Islam originated from. This division is not limited to Imamat and Khilafat but we also see that it includes the perception and status of Rasulallah.
