The Son of God

Muslims believe that Jesus was a great prophet, but because they do not believe in an incarnation, Jesus could not and was not the SON of God. In Islam, God is separate, one, and distinguished from humanity. But, the arguments don’t end with Christian and non-Christian beliefs. Within the Christian community of believers, people will KILL (literally) if ones doctrine isn’t orthodox.

Orthodox is therein defined as MY doctine!  :-(

Wouldn’t it be great if we could come to the place where on this Christmas season we could just LOVE people and demonstrate that fact that GOD IS LOVE and not fight over who believes this or who thinks that. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get past just the singing of “JOY to the World” and we could BE that JOY!  Wow, what a thought: we experience that joy and don’t just sing about it.

It’s much like our approach to Jesus. How we love to PRAISE Jesus, sing about His holy name, and lift him up (as we opine), but then do just about everything but what he asked of us to do- FOLLOW HIM! Ah, to follow him will really cost and that’s probably why we don’t.

Wouldn’t it also be great if we weren’t judged, nor did we judge, but simpy FOLLOWED the Son of God without having to wrestle over the exact words that we used in that case. Michael Servetus (1511-1553) was a Spanish (Aragonese) theologian, physician, cartographer, and humanist who didn’t live a very long liffe as you can see. Unfortunately he got caught up in the Protestant Reformation, was condemned by the Catholic church, and subsequently burnt at the stake by order of the Protestant Geneva governing council.

Why? Because he was a heretic.

How so?

He chose to say that Jesus was the “Son of eternal God”. The church demanded that he say that Jesus was the “eternal Son of God”. So, we kill each other over the words and confirm that New Testament Scripoture that the words- the law KILLS, but only the Spirit brings life.

Will you be a life-giver this holiday season or something akin to a religious Grinch?

As a spiritual-futurist, I interpret current events in light of possible macro-universal forces at play leading up to 2012, but not limited to it.
