Muhammad Verifies The Most Intolerable Type Of Hypocrisy

In Hadith, Prophet Muhammad says:
“Three are the signs of a hypocrite: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is trusted, he betrays his trust even if he observes Fasting, performs prayers and claims to be a believer.”
In another Hadith, Prophet Muhammad says:
“Four are the qualities which, when found in a person, make him a sheer hypocrite, and one who possesses one of them, possesses one characteristic of hypocrisy until he abandons it. These are: When he is entrusted with something, he betrays trust; when he speaks, he lies; when he promises, he acts treacherously; and when he argues, he behaves in a very imprudent, insulting manner.”
Hypocrisy is a disagreement between heart and tongue.
Hypocrisy is a discrepancy between word and deed.
This Hadith makes it easy to recognize the hypocrite.
The hypocrite is recognized by these four signs:
When he speaks, he lies;
when he makes a promise, he breaks it;
when he is trusted, he betrays his trust, and
when he argues, he behaves in a very imprudent, insulting manner
However, according to the second Hadith, a hypocrite may be 25% hypocrite, 50% hypocrite, 75% hypocrite and 100% hypocrite; and the worst one is the last one.
In the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad, there existed a group of hypocrites whose traits of characters have been outlined in Hadiths.
In spite of having a high distinguished rank of Prophethood, the Prophet Muhammad hardly knew what lay in the hearts of people because, he was fundamentally a human.
By any means, it is not possible to perceive the wickedness hidden in the heart of anyone.
To make it easy, the Prophet Muhammad gives us the key to know the hypocrites.
We can easily pick up the hypocrites out from the ranks of believers. Just follow the Hadith which provides us definite signs of the character and manners of hypocrites so as to distinguish them from sincere believers.
The Scholars say that there are two features of hypocrisy relating to faith and practice.
In the first case, a hypocrite conceals his disbelief in his heart but verbally professes Islam. Anyone who belongs to this category of hypocrites will be, as stated in the Quran in the verse 4:145: “In the lowest depths of the Fire.”
This shows that this type of hypocrite is the most intolerable one; and his or her outcome will be in the bottom (the lowest depths) of the Eternal Fire in the Hereafter
In the second case, a man does have faith in his heart but in practice he portrays the characteristics of a hypocrite. Unfortunately, the majorities of Muslims nowadays practically behave like hypocrites and possess their predilections.
It is this hypocritical attitude and moral deficiencies of Muslims that have degraded them and made Islam, unpleasant and unattractive. This is because the majorities of Muslims nowadays do not know nor they adopt the clear and pure Islam.
Imam Muhammad Abdu (1849- 1905), the Innovator of the thought of many Islamic nations was exiled from Egypt in 1882 for six years, because of his thought. He lived in Lebanon then he moved to France and lived in Europe.
When he came back home he said:
“Here, in Egypt, there are Muslims but there is no Islam and
There, in Europe, there is Islam but there are no Muslims.”
