Mother of Suicide Terrorist: He said “72 dark-eyed maidens of Paradise are waiting for me”

A Palestinian mother of a Hamas suicide terrorist is interviewed on the official Palestinian Authority television station. She states that she praised Allah when she heard of her son’s death, because he was a Shahid, a Martyr for Allah. Her son wanted to get married, but also wanted Shahada (Martyrdom). He achieved both because he believed that 72 Dark-Eyed Maidens were waiting for him. This refers to the Islamic belief that every Martyr is a groom and will marry 72 virgins in Paradise upon their death. Mother of Hamas terrorist: “When notified [of my son's death] I restrained myself, and said: ‘Praise Allah.’ I kissed him everywhere, and said: ‘Praise Allah.’ I cried out in joy and said: ‘Praise Allah, he is a Shahid (Martyr) Shahid, Shahid. He asked for Martyrdom.’ Once he joked with me: ‘Mother, I want to get married.’ I answered: ‘Praise Allah.’ Then he said: ‘And Shahada (Death for Allah).’ I said: ‘How do you plan to marry?’ He answered: ’72 Dark-Eyed [Maidens] are waiting for me.’” [PA TV (Fatah), July 11, 2004]
