Do you think the islamic rule for women to wear a veil is immoral?

I do. Women should not hide themselves like ghosts. Intolerant? Telling the truth is not intolerant.

I’m not a fan of any religion that says women are different from men and must act and/or dress differently.

Meaning, I’m not a fan of most religions.

I think it is degrading to women to have to hide themselves, walk behind their husbands, be sexually mutilated when they reach puberty and be shunned if their husbands divorce them. That culture is all about men for men and by men. They are even afraid to let their women get an education. It is appalling to me. That’s my personal opinion.

As someone with a very different outlook, beliefs, and worldview I find it unsettling. In that I wouldn’t like that for myself and so its hard for me to understand it and not feel its wrong. Its not immoral to me though until the point they enforce it on all society by legislating their faith based beliefs on everyone. When a woman can’t choose to not wear it then it becomes immoral to me. Otherwise if its an Islamic belief they choose to follow freely I may reject it for myself and think its wrong but their choosing and thinking otherwise voluntarily so long as they don’t force it on anyone is not immoral to me. Though many of the ways some Islamic countries and people treat women is appalling and frightening to me.

If you are a Christian then you would be a hypocrite because Mary covered her hair. Why do you think older Jewish cover their hair, and some denominations of Chrisitianity cover their hair in church. You would never say that Mary covering her hair was immoral. Would you?

It only becomes immoral when a woman (of any religion) is forced to cover her hair. If the woman wants to cover her hair than more power to her, and it should be none of your business. Some people go around wearing mini skirts that show half of their *** but I dont go around complaining that it is “intolerant”.

If the woman is Muslim and chooses the religion for herself then there is nothing wrong with it.

Is Sikhism wrong because men must wear a turban but not women? Is Judaism intolerant because men wear a Yarmulke? It is part of their religious beliefs and if the woman has the choice of whether or not she wants to wear a hijab then it is not intolerant . . .

try to learn more about other peoples religious beliefs and do not just assume all Muslim women are mistreated and disrespected by their husbands. Many women who choose to wear the hijab are free, educated, intelligent strong women! Some are in abusive relationships but so are some christian women.
