Personally I do not use the term Islamic fundamentalism simply because I do not believe that extremists stick to the rules of Islam.
Extremists are people who strayed from the path of the mainstream Muslims. The majority of Muslims believe in the correct belief taught by Prophet MuHammad and do not practise suicide bombing or killing of innocent people.
There are groups that call themselves Islamic but they teach things differently to how the majority of Muslims teach them. Such groups are called extremists because they strayed so far to the extreme that they went out of the boundaries of the true teachings of Islam.
