From Atheism to Belief: A Journey to Islam in North America. This was the topic of a lecture delivered by Dr. Jeffrey Lang at McGill University on October 27, 2007. Dr. Jeffrey Lang was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1954. He grew up in a Roman Catholic family but became atheist by the time he was 18. In the early 80s, however, he converted to Islam and since then, he has been an active and influential voice in Islamic Circles throughout America. Dr. Lang is currently a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Kansas in the US.

His answer to the evolution question reveals that his beliefs are presuppositional, that is he takes his religious beliefs before everything else: “However life happened, god is at the origin”
That’s saying “whatever science finds in the future, it’s still god”

I just want to point out that many theologian in Islam says that they story of Adam and Ev toke place on earth not heavens even before evolution ever were mentioned. I will explain why by the following phrases allah (Gardens of Eden, which the Beneficent hath promised to His slaves in the unseen. Lo! His promise is ever sure of fulfilment – (61) They hear therein NO IDL TALK, but only Peace; and therein they have food for morn and evening.) but in the story Allah said

Allah says to the angels prostate to Adam and they prostrated except Iblis.
This shows that the angels were well and alive as were the djinns. By the way Satan is probably more cunning than any man. How can you reconcile evolution with this? It doesn’t make sense.

The very important point he mentioned is that he did not toke the word of the very first Muslim he met and that could’v been gone the other way. And the guidance of ALLAH is always there.
