From Atheism to Belief: A Journey to Islam in North America. This was the topic of a lecture delivered by Dr. Jeffrey Lang at McGill University on October 27, 2007. Dr. Jeffrey Lang was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1954. He grew up in a Roman Catholic family but became atheist by the time he was 18. In the early 80s, however, he converted to Islam and since then, he has been an active and influential voice in Islamic Circles throughout America. Dr. Lang is currently a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Kansas in the US.

People would take your comment much more seriously if you watched past the first of the 17 parts instead of “guessing” and making assumptions. It’s funny how the belief in a super power is a fairy tale but believing that this complex universe is the result of chance with no responsible designer is “logical” and “scientific”.
Sounds to me more like he had father issues that led him to shuffle off Christianity as a way to strike back at his father, but he wasn’t strong enough to actually live without a fairy tale to make him feel like something was giving his life meaning. I’m guessing he had a number of muslim friends, and being good people, he wanted to be a part of their group. He’s no more mulsim than he was christian. Of course, if you believe in a fairy tale what does it really matter?

Islam would not have stopped his father being violent towards his mother. Maybe it would have stopped his alcoholism, but his temper would be the same.
Violence against women still exists but Islam makes the women even more vulnerable by stripping them of their rights. And instead of condemning the violent and abusive husband it punishes the wife.
And if she leaves, the kids will remain in the hands of the abusive father.
Islam does not protect the victim it gives rights to the abuser!
The love that Muslims talk about for Allah and eachother.. I have it. The love that Christians talk about, I have it. We are inately capable of goodness and love. If you’re religious you’re just using the name to clarify what it is. May your God go with you.
We’re fragile beings and we need to believe in something. Whatever works for you. I personally think it’s arrogant to say that there absolutely is a God and that if there is one, or several, we are only likely to find out the truth by exploring our natural world as fully as possible. It is possible to live a good and true and loving life without the idea of God or Allah or prophets or Jesus or Mohammad or Rabbi’s or Reverends or Vicars or Priests or any kind of religious idea.
@snaforfun What about the non-Muslims. You mean to? say you “hate” them. Good and bad exist in this world. And that doesn`t mean all Christians are bad or all Muslims are good. I believe you should focus on humanity, because that`s what that matters the most. Take care of yourself, and thank you.
