Dr. Yahya On His Proposed Plan For Peace In The Middle East
Chicago, USA, In his lecture in the Chicago Auditorium prof. hasan yahya addressed a medium audience explaining the content of a message sent to President Barack Obama concerning the 100 years old Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He began by a quote from Machiavelli, which says: “it is very difficult to introduce an idea to change order of things” he was introducing a new and bold idea by saying: “Palestinian-Israeli conflict can be solved if new idea of the proposed map was accepted by involved parties” , “for Israel, Palestinians and Egypt as an Arab country and Israel as one party in the conflict, to give land between the east borders of Gaza Strip down south to the red sea, and Egypt gives part of Senai near Arish of the Mediterranean down south to the red sea too in a line parallel to the line in old PalestineOther nations can be involved in the Middle East as well as outside the region. For example, the Arab and Muslim nations can be supportive to the map and the plan. The EU , the UN and the USA can be involved too in convincing the parties to accept the new map. Professor Yahya, is a professor of sociology in Jackson Community College, He explained further the role of other countries. For Israel to give part of the Negiv as compromising with some settlements, For Palestinians they can satisfy their requirement of refugees return according to UN 338, 242, resolutions. In terms of Jerusalem resolution number 181, can be implemented where Jerusalem became the capital for both Israelis and Palestinian states. In addition to the Saudi Arabia plan for normalization of relations Arabs and Muslims may contribute with Israel for repatriation of Palestinian lands and possessions. The EU, the UN and the USA may also contribute in promoting the economic progress for the new Palestinian state. Prof. Yahya emphasized the role of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority in accepting the plan. In his talk, he emphasized the role of Egypt where the Senai land can be considered as a gift for Palestinians or for rent for 100 years for example. In this case, a viable and volatile state can survive as an armless state or neutral state like Switzerland or Monaco. Two conditions were made for the plan to be real, 1. Palestinians have to give the feeling of security to Israel as a Jewish state and to recognize Israel as such. 2. Israelis have to give some land plus a land connection between the West Bank and Gaza Strip to connect the Palestinian state together.
The idea never thought before, to change border lines between Israel and Egypt to host parts the Palestinian state. Borders were made by Sikes and Picot in 1918, but these borders can be altered for a noble cause which is to bring peace to the area.
