Bill Maher contrasts Bush’s political literacy with Obama

Full story at www.thebluestate.com Monday on Larry King Live, political comedian Bill Maher pointed out that it might be smart for a change to have a president that has lived oversees before — since foreign policy is our number one challenge. When we went into Iraq, Bush did not even know the difference between Sunnis and Shiites. BILL MAHER: He’s (Obama) only been in the Senate a couple of years. But he has a different kind of experience — for example, he lived oversees. That might be helpful since we’re in so much trouble oversees. He understands the Muslim world, compared to our present President, who had to ask at the time we were invading a Muslim country — when he was told that Iraq was made up of Sunnis and Shias — he said, “Oh, I thought there were Muslims over there.” To me, this is an impeachable offense. To me, this is an insult to me — when Bill O’Reilly says, “You really think he’s stupid?” Yeah. Somebody who invades a Muslim country and doesn’t know that there’s a potential civil war between the Sunnis and the Shias brewing — that’s stupid, and that’s impeachable.

    Maher loves himself.

    @MeteorPhoenix1127 EEEEEEEEE Science! How exciting that would be! I don’t understand why people throw out the words “communism” and “fascism” without knowing anything. But your comment was A+

  3. MeteorPhoenix1127

    @saper321 There’s a difference between a possible terrorist and a potential terrorist? Sure. That’s a high accusation. I don’t see the liberals saying “we have to take our country back, no matter what”. I don’t see the democrats saying “we must stop this fascist regime”. And most of all, I don’t see the progressives fighting tooth-and-nail to have as many guns as they can.

    And even with all of that, even when it’s people on the right killing doctors, I don’t stoop to this level of accusation.

  4. saper321

    @MeteorPhoenix1127
    No. I said you are a potential terrorist. Big difference.

  5. MeteorPhoenix1127

    @saper321 See, you already accused me of being a possible terrorist simply because of a difference in opinion xD

    As I said, kicking and screaming.

  6. saper321

    @MeteorPhoenix1127
    You are so naive, it’s not even funny. If you think Democratic Party is somehow for progress and science you must be getting all your news from Jon Stewart, MSNBC, and Bill Maher. Try to listen to different sources before you run into Tea Party HQ with bomb strap onto your chest.

  7. MeteorPhoenix1127

    @saper321 Don’t worry, it doesn’t. Put that out of your head and join us in the 21st Century. We have healthcare and scieeeeeence~

  8. saper321

    @MeteorPhoenix1127
    Well as long as your “next century” involves communism and fascism, we the people are not interested, and will stay in this one.

  9. MeteorPhoenix1127

    @saper321 Maher sees the Democrats as having one purpose: to drag the redneck half of this nation, kicking and screaming, into the next century.

  10. saper321

    I honestly think Bill Maher is an ultimate hypocrite. Because if he wasn’t one, he would commit suicide by now for being Obama’s cheerleader.

    @gunnerfan87 You have never seen more of O”Reilly than clips, he only cuts people off when they wont shut the fuck up.

  12. RadarKat73080

    We’d have no government if stupidity was an impeachable offense!

  13. basketballion

    @ynot4tony2 .let’s not even use the words President Bush and COURTS in any sentence….The admin. may have known but that pathetic piece of monkey excrement had no idea. It amazes me that people will actually defend him.

  15. villanova85

    he lived overseas, your right pompous ass ( not funny ) Bill he was born overseas!!!

  16. ynot4tony2

    Bill read this fact in a book, so it MUST be true. Nevermind that the book was an anti-Bush screed, and there has been absolutely no actual confirmation of this quote. It’s what the courts would call “hearsay”.

    Furthermore, documents coming out of the White House before this alleged incident clearly show the Administration knew the difference between Sunni and Shiite muslims.

    But why let facts get in the way of hate, right Maher?

    @Decktrio I lived in the US for 4 years… and I’ve traveled to about 4 other countries besides the US and where I live. Don’t bite your tongue.

  18. Decktrio

    @Cheshirecat55 woops i had a typo in my last response. I meant to say that DADT simply forbids LGBT members of the military (uh huh, our ALL VOLUNTEER military) from living conspicuously. Anyways… living in the United States of America isn’t nearly as bad as you appear to be under the impression of… Perhaps if you get the chance to do some extensive world traveling, you’ll change your perspective of life in the states as compared to life in other countries. And I mean that with no disrespect

  19. Decktrio

    @Cheshirecat55 :) Like I implied before, it’s not illegal to BE gay in the US. DADT does not change that simple fact; DADT forbids members of the LGBT “community” from living conspicuously. And you’re right, as a nation we have much room for growth… but the point to my previous comment was that so do the other nations of our time. We all have a long journey of “progress” before us. Compared to its contemporaries, the US typically does a remarkable job of protecting the rights of its residents.

  20. Cheshirecat55

    @Decktrio uh… ever hear of Don’t ask don’t tell?

  21. Decktrio

    @Cheshirecat55 I’m an American… (from the United States of America). Since when is it illegal to be gay in the U.S.A.? Are many Americans ignorant? Well, yes. Are many Americans rude? Yes, that too. However, so are the residents/citizens of most other countries. We all have our intellectual elites and our ignorami. So next time you’re about to deliver a nasty comment on YouTube, or anywhere else for that matter, think thrice and research twice. Thank you, and have a good day. ;)

    The trouble with Barack Obama is that he’s been TAINTED by the Third-World. He has lived there, and countries like Indonesia expect to be taken care of. He has a Care-package mentality to American finance. Dare I say it? A CARGO-CULT mentality. Cargo, to Obama, will magically appear for people. The blood and sweat involved in tax-money just doesn’t register.

  23. Cheshirecat55

    @millerman31564 Please give me one example of this.

    Greece is in a financial melt down and recently made some poor decisions. Just pointing out one socialist country that has problems doesn’t mean we all do. The US is in a state of crisis too… The economy is bad, what’s your point?

    I don’t want to be an american, where if I was gay it would be illegal, the crime rate is massive and people are fat, ignorant and rude. I’m happy in ireland

    you American’s have no clue about the world, do you?

  24. millerman31564

    @Cheshirecat55 Yeah, you damn Europeans love to slander America until your ass is in the sling and you need someone to come rescue you from a mess you didn’t have the balls to deal with at the time. YOUR arrogance is just as obnoxious to me as any of the stupid Americans that you put down but in your heart secretly apire to be. As for the rest of Europe, look to Greece and see what your asinine socialist ways have in store for you. Good luck you fucking retard!!!

  25. neoldd1

    Bill Maher told this story about Bush in the media many times. I do find it quite easy to believe, but Maher is the only person I have ever heard talking about this. Des someone know where this comes from? I would like to double check it.
